The PEC serves as the driving force behind the litigation, tasked with coordinating strategies, conducting discovery, conducting bellwether trials, negotiating settlement, and advocating for the collective interests of the plaintiffs. This includes funding of the high costs of litigation necessary to prosecute the cause. Court appointment to this committee is a pivotal moment in the MDL process, with far-reaching implications for all parties involved. To date, the AFFF PEC has delivered at total of $14.55 billion in settlements to clean PFAS out of public drinking water. Mike Stag believes this is just the beginning with the PEC working to deliver additional money in the future to meaningfully assist in combating the harm caused by PFAS.
