Recent product recalls highlight the importance of consumer safety. The Food & Drug Administration (“FDA”) oversees the regulation and safety of drugs, over-the- medical devices, and cosmetic products. Additionally, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) plays a crucial role in protecting the public by ensuring that dangerous products are taken off the market. Below are recent recall notifications concerning consumer goods.

NordicTrack Rowing Machine Recall
The CPSC and iFIT have issued a nationwide recall of NordicTrack rowing machines after identifying a serious fire hazard linked to the touchscreen console. At least eight incidents have been reported, including two fires and six cases of melting or smoke. The incidents resulted in extensive property damage.
The affected rowing machines were sold between November 2018 and April 2022 at major retailers. Owners are urged to stop using the machines immediately, unplug them, and contact the manufacturer for a free repair or replacement.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Recall
A popular Neutrogena product has been recalled. “Ultra‑Soft Cleansing Towelettes” makeup remover wipes have been voluntarily recalled after an internal investigation revealed the presence of the bacterium Pluralibacter gergoviae in the products. The products were distributed throughout the south.
The FDA classified the recall as Class II. A Class II recall indicates that the use of, or exposure to, the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. However, the risk of serious injury or death is low.
The bacteria is known to cause infections such as urinary tract infections, eye infections, and in rare cases, sepsis. Therefore, individuals with weakened immune systems, open wounds or skin‑conditions face the highest risk. Affected consumers should immediately stop using the product, check the lot number on the packaging and follow the recall instructions.
Peloton Bike Recall
The Peloton Original Bike+ Model PL02 is being recalled nationwide after reports that the seat post assembly can break during use. This can cause users to fall and sustain injuries. Unfortunately, this is Peloton’s the second recall involving defective seat posts.
The recall affects over 800,000 bikes sold nationwide. Specifically, the recalled bikes were manufactured between December 2019 and July 2022, and sold through December 2025. Consumers with affected bikes should stop using them immediately. Additionally, consumers can contact Peloton for a replacement seat.
