Next week has been declared Pro Bono Week in Louisiana by our governor. “Pro Bono” is short for pro bono publico which means “for the public good” in Latin. In a legal context, this usually refers to voluntary, law-related services to people of limited means.
The Louisiana State Bar Association will be hosting their annual Lawyers in Libraries events at libraries across Louisiana. This is where lawyers are scheduled to be at libraries for certain scheduled times and they can meet with people one on one to answer questions related to civil law, and even connect them to additional resources if possible.
The schedule for Lawyers in Libraries can be found here, and if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll run into one the lawyers from Stag Liuzza while they are volunteering!!!
